Meaning of Deus Vult
Deus vult (Ecclesiastical Latin: ‘God wills it’) is a Christian motto relating to Divine providence. It was first chanted by Catholics during the First Crusade in 1096 as a rallying cry.
To me, it is the ancient version of “Thy Will Be Done.” No matter what or who I pray for, I always end every prayer with: “Above all else, Thy Will Be Done.” Knowing that the things I pray for might not always be what is best, and asking that God would not give us what we want, but what we need, no matter how hard or painful that might be.
Even when faced with death, Jesus said to God: Lets do this thing, “Thy Will Be Done.”
